DotMarks does not collect, store or share any personal data.
What the app stores
Player names you type in, answers, times and scores are saved in a database on the device only. The app never sends them anywhere. It makes no network connections at all.
What the app does not do
No accounts. No sign-in. No analytics or crash reporting. No advertising. No third-party software development kits that talk to the internet. No tracking across apps or websites.
Parent area
The parent area is protected by a PIN you choose. The PIN is stored on the device as a SHA-256 hash. If you turn on fingerprint or face unlock, the check is performed by your device's operating system; DotMarks never sees or stores biometric data. Anyone with a fingerprint or face enrolled on the device can then open the parent area. The option is off by default.
Children
The app is made for children practising for the Year 4 multiplication tables check. Because it collects nothing, the only data about a child is on your own device, where you can delete it. DotMarks keeps its data out of iCloud and Google backups. Moving to a new phone or tablet by direct device-to-device transfer carries it across; restoring from a cloud backup does not.
Deleting data
Delete a child in the parent area to remove them and all their data. Delete the app to remove everything. "Start practice again" in a child's details keeps every score, streak and badge and only changes which questions come up next.
